Integrative Therapist

Emma Tatnall

Sometimes things feel overwhelming, for all of us. There isn’t a person on the planet who can thrive without someone to talk to. Emma specialises in helping people combat anxiety which can strike anyone at any time and can affect so many aspects of life. She aims to provide you with a consistent, confidential opportunity to talk, to explore and to build your resources to allow you to live the life you truly desire.

Find Support with Emma Tatnall

Emma’s approach is based on the belief that while your past is an important part of who you are, it shouldn’t dictate your present or future.

She will begin sessions by listening to your story to really understand how it has personally affected you – no judgement and no hidden agendas. She will then offer you the opportunity to explore any old beliefs that might not be serving you well in the present, and in this way you will find that things start to change. Your relationships with others will improve, and perhaps more importantly so will your relationship with yourself.

Over the years Emma has helped many people find ways to understand and calm their anxiety and has seen the effect that it can have on their lives as a whole. The great thing about therapy is that you will notice it having an effect on all aspects of your life – relationships with colleagues, partners, family and friends.

Emma has also worked extensively with trauma and can help you understand how the effects of trauma continue long after the traumatic experience, whether it happened last week or over many years during childhood. According to Bessel van der Kolk and many other trauma specialists “The body keeps the score” and Emma often works from a place of exploring what tension and stress you are holding in your body and how this can have an effect on your thinking and feeling.

The work will happen at whatever pace suits you and you can explore creative options should you wish to work in this way. Emma works in person with adult clients from a comfortable and private space in Copmanthorpe, York and also offers online appointments if you are elsewhere in the country or unable to attend in person.

Emma offers a reduced rate for the introductory session so that you can get a good feel for whether you wish to continue with counselling sessions before you commit to any more.
